Here are a couple of pictures of Foster Falls. It is just west of Tracy City off Hwy 41. The easiest way to get there is go I-24 to Monteagle Mountain exit 134. Go right about 1 mile, you'll see hwy 41 & 56 to the left. Turn and go 3 miles you will see South Cumberland State Park office on the left. If you choose you can stop in there to get more information. But you can stay on 41 to Tracy City, it's about 1-2 miles past Tracy City, on the right.
There is a lookout built there so you can see the falls before you go down to them. If you decide to go down to the falls, it is a fairly short hike. But it is straight down the side of the hill. I'd call it easy for most, but a little harder on beginners. Coming back up will be the real chore.
But it is definately worth the trip.
When you leave Foster Falls, go back to Tracy City, go up hwy 56 to Beersheba Springs. It's about 20-25 miles from Foster Falls. You will come to Stone Door on the right. This is a great find. It's an easy 1 mile hike back to Stone Door. The views a really great. Plus you can go down and see the Stone Door.
After you return from Stone Door, walk behind the ranger's station, to the right, you will come upon Laurel Falls. It's a short easy hike. Most people do not even know it's there. It's only a 100 yard easy hike. Don't miss this bonus.
After you leave Stone Door, go back south on hwy 56, about 4-5 miles, between mile marker 22-21, on the left you will see Greeter Falls. You definitely need to go to this falls. There is a nice park area there. An easy 1 miles hike to Greeter Falls and also Boardtree Falls is another bonus falls for you.
This is fairly easy mile hike back in there but it's a beautiful site. The trail will split and you can go to which falls you want first. The trail is well marked with white markers. Greeter Falls has observation areas above and below the falls. Check em both out. Then go on to Boardtree Falls. It and easy 1/2 mile hike from Greeter Falls. A nice falls hidden back in the woods. What a great find. Well worth easy 2 mile round trip hike.
